I was getting into my car this morning when I noticed something sticking out of the driver's side front tire. I figured it was just the stem of a leaf that had worked its way between the tire and the rims. Either that or a skinny twig that had wedged itself in there.
As I grabbed a hold of the "twig" and started to pull it out, I had an awful realization. It was neither a leaf nor a twig. I was, in fact, holding onto the tail of a mouse, (insert shudder here) and yes, the tail was still attached to the mouse's body.
Now I have to figure out how to get the dead mouse out of my tire. I'm afraid if I try to pull it out, the tail will break off from the body. Actually, I'm not sure what would be more disgusting: 1) if the tail broke off or 2) if the squished, dead body came out. It all makes my skin crawl to think about it.
I think I'll maybe have the mechanics take it out when I go in to get my oil changed tomorrow. I know that's such a girl thing to do, but I just can't stand the thought of touching that thing again.

i totally understand the "ew" factor here. and i'm not sure which of those choices would be worse either. i would think, as lindsey said that it should get out of there just by driving around...if not, good luck!
i'm impressed you touched it in the first place. i once came home to find my mom squeamishly trying to fling a dead mouse off the garage floor into the yard. trying to act all touch, i took the hockey stick she was using and set up to take a good whack at it. about then it started moving and my mom and i both went running. i guess i'm more of a girl than you!
You didn't have to insert a shudder in your blog. When I got to that part I was gasping, shuddering and 'ew'ing. Did you clorox your hand? I would have been tempted to do so. I'm wondering if it's a South Dakota mouse, and if so my thanks are in order. :)
it's definitely not coming off by simply driving around. because of how it's wedged in there, i'm worried that if i tried to use a stick to get it out that i might puncture the inner tube.
how does a mouse that lodged that tightly in in the first place, i wonder?
i have no idea. i did try to pull it out, but all i succeeded in doing was to break the tail off. i had the mechanics at Sears take it out. they said they'd never seen anything like it, so i guess mice don't make the habit of wiggling into car tires.
Thankyou Sears. :)
*rolls eyes* Women!
eww. big time.
I don't scream very often...out of 'shock', but I think that if I were to be grabbing for what I thought was a leaf, or a twig, and it was a mouse--- I would have definately screamed.
But, I would have taken a picture.
Yeah, I'm gross.
Yay for sears.
