Last night we had a going away party for two of our staff members who are moving out of the area. We all went down to Calhoun's for half-price drinks & half-price appetizers. I wasn't very hungry, so I just ordered chips & salsa.
We'd already been there for about a half an hour when G, one of our technical services staff showed up and sat right next to me. Now before I go on with the story, understand that G is very much like Milton from Office Space - bumbling, socially inept, and generally awkward. He's not very socially active, but for some reason, he always makes an appearance at these going away parties.
G has not been sitting there for an entire minute, when he asks if he can have a chip. I say OK, so he reaches over and takes a chip out of the basket. No problem there. He eats the chip and then proceeds to reach across again, not to take another chip, but to take the entire basket of chips and place it in front of him. I think my jaw might have dropped, and everyone at the table including me started to laugh in disbelief.
I let the basket sit there for a minute, and then I reached over and took the basket of chips back. He continues to reach over and snag chips out of my basket, and eventually, he reaches all the way across me to grab the salsa & guacamole. He then proceeded to eat large amounts of both things in a very short amount of time. Needless to say, I took my salsa and guacamole back.
Later the waitress brought out plates. With plate in hand, G gave up his one-chip-at-a-time method, and took an entire fistful of chips. I think he actually managed to take half of the chips left in the basket in that handful.
I'm still a little flabbergasted by the whole thing. I mean, seriously, who does that? Just get your own freakin' chips & salsa.

I'm almost speechless.
G hasn't been off the farm (or away from the computer) very long.
h ahah ah ah - you should give him a red stapler. just for kicks :)
Don't they have Cheesit boxes that say, "Get your own box"????
It would make a good gift for him, although I doubt he'd get the drift.... :)
